Meet your director

Serious about the work.
Grounded in community.

John Rice represents Electoral Area D, Oyster Bay and Buttle Lake, on the Strathcona Regional District board.

A practical way of working.

John’s background is in information technology. That experience shapes his approach to public service: understand the problem, work through the details, and follow it through.

His work in Area D centres on dependable infrastructure, the cost of regional services, and growth that respects green space. His monthly reports let residents follow the issues in his own words.

John announced in August 2026 that he is seeking a second term. His emphasis is on continuing the work already underway and maintaining constructive relationships with neighbouring communities and other levels of government.
